Generic Serevent is used as an inhaler. This is used twice a day. The composition of Generic Serevent is Salmeterol Xinafoate. This is the generic name for the drug. The drug is used as a long term drug for asthma. Salmeterol Xinafoate is used for exercise induced bronchospasm. Some instructions should be followed before use of this drug. You have to shake the inhaler well immediately before each use. The cap from the mouthpiece has to be removed and the strap on the cap will stay attached to the actuator. If the strap is removed from the actuator and lost, the inhaler mouthpiece should be inspected for the presence of foreign objects before each use. Make sure the canister is fully and firmly inserted into the actuator. It is recommended to have a test spray.
The common side effects of this drug are headache, tremor, irregular heartbeat, or muscle cramping. However if these symptoms are persistent then you must consult with your doctor for intervention. If any symptom occurs which is not listed then you must inform it to the doctor, nurse or the pharmacist. There are some precautions which have to be followed in relation to use of this drug.
